Writing is linked to high quality class texts which interest, motivate and inspire our pupils to write creatively and with skill. The texts and planning sequences we use come from the CLPE scheme which employs a book based approach which immerses children in a literary world creating strong levels of engagement to provide meaningful and authentic contexts for learning.

We cover a wide range of genres throughout the year and build upon previous knowledge and understanding.

We understand the importance and fundamental relationship between composition and transcription and plan our curriculum accordingly. We focus on vocabulary, word choice, oral composition and text structure as well as spelling, handwriting and punctuation.
