  • Classical Musicians at Stanton!

    Published 11/11/24

What a treat for our KS2 pupils to get a front row seat to see classical musicians Dina Duisen (piano) and Rebert Cohen (cello) who performed in our very own Holy Trinity Church here at Stanton. Our guests performed both together and solos and performed famous works such as Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumble Bee'. It was a mesmerising hour and the children also got to ask Robert and Dina questions about their work. To have such a front row seat for these amazingly talented musicians is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of our children.

Thank you very much to Dina and Robert and to our chair of governors, Mr Adrian Thornhill, for organising the event.

  • Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby ‘2024 Champions!’

  • Year 1 and 2 Football ’Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!’

    Published 04/11/24

Our Year 1s and 2s travelled to Tideswell to compete in the cluster schools football tournament, and they did not
disappoint. One of our teams qualified for the semi-finals after two comprehensive group-stage victories, where they
scored 10 goals without reply. Unfortunately, some resolute defending and a breakaway goal were enough for Tideswell
to prevent our Infants reaching the final. That being said – our teams did not come away from the tournament empty
    handed.
During every cluster schools’ event, the officials, organisers and coaches look out for a specific sporting quality within
the teams that are competing. Throughout this event, they were looking for schools which demonstrated great levels of
    teamwork.
Stanton’s two teams were awarded the trophy for outstanding teamwork. Throughout each game and during the
coached sessions, our infants supported and encouraged each other. Their passing and overall team cohesion on the
pitch was also a joy to watch, as were the giant celebrations in the middle of the pitch each time a goal was scored,
which saw the entire team huddle together to share the joy!

  • We have achieved the Bronze Bert Award!

Building Effective Relationships Together (BERT) Award

We are proud to announce that we have achieved the Bronze BERT Award. Part of the work towards the award has been further developing our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) provision, further developing positive relationships in the school community and reducing stigma around asking for help and support on sensitive issues, such as puberty, body image and online friendships. We feel very strongly that when children have good friendships and connections with others, it supports their safety, mental health and wellbeing. This then has a positive impact on their ability to take part in lessons and to achieve well in their learning.
